I've had the privilege to attend the preview of the new Richard Long exhibition at the exquisitely beautiful Houghton Hall. Modern art has never felt more at ease in such environment. Just as previously with the beautiful paintings brought back temporarily from the Hermitage, I can but imagine the pain of the Marquess and marchioness having to let it all go when the exhibition comes to an end. At least, some of the works will remain and there're some other wonderful works of art scattered throughout the gloriously lush gardens, like James Turrell's Skyspace Seldom Seen amongst others to mitigate this pain.
All of it extremely moving. And of course you get to visit one of the most beautiful country houses in England. What's not to like? Thoroughly recommended.
